Hey! This will be a rather short update but I felt that it would be nice to touch base with everyone. Let’s get right to it!
From Ashe Vol. 11
In the last update, I had finished the first draft of the book and was heading into the first major editing pass. This time, that first pass has been done and it has been sent through Grammarly and Google Docs spell check. All that is left is to do a final readthrough and write the bonus chapter.
For the bonus chapter, I have an idea of what I want to do but not sure how I want to structure it yet. It’s something I’m mulling over in my head but I do plan to get that hammered out in the coming week or so. Let’s just say that it’s going to be a bit different than what I normally write.
As far as the artwork is concerned, Alex is working on the commissions. There will be five of them this time around… 1 cover, and 3 interior scenes, and we will get to see what Kerra (last name still pending) looks like! As far as how much we have progressed, Alex has finished the characters for the cover and is currently working on the background. I received the rough sketch of the background and I think it looks amazing. Just waiting on the colored version which should be coming in the next day or two, hopefully. In other words, expect a cover reveal soon.
I also don’t know what color to make the logo. I originally settled on green because I had an idea for the cover where Ashe was sitting on the stump in front of her pond and the water would be a reflection of Stacatto… the main character from her book Shadow Wing. I went in a completely different direction since I had already used the pond for Vol. 7’s cover and didn’t want to repeat it so soon. Instead, I did something else with Shadow Wing and that’s all I will say about the cover. You’ll see it when you see it on Social Media… but the other thing I will say is that green won’t suit this cover anymore so we’ll see what color matches up well.
Smashwords Summer Sale
The sale has now officially ended so if you were one of the ones that snagged some books for $1.24, then I hope you enjoy your new adventures! Not sure when I’ll have or participate in another sale but keep your eyes peeled for another chance to save and hop into one of my stories!
Something Still Brewing
I teased something in the last update and I will say that it’s still cooking. If everything goes according to plan, expect to see an announcement about this by the end of the month. Fingers crossed!
MyGF Continues to Be a Powerhouse
One thing that I would like to say is that MyGF continues to perform better than I expect it to. It is still the fastest-selling title I have written (when you consider the timeframe of the Release Date to the Present Day). Not only that but in the time that it has been out, it has become the 3rd best-selling book I’ve written with only A.R. Dragonfly Vol. 1 and Final Hope Vol. 1 selling more copies.
Whoever thought that a small 8,000-word short story in From Ashe would turn into a 60,000-word novel and do this well?
I mean, I did say from the get-go that From Ashe was a sandbox for me to test new light novel ideas… I guess you could say that turned out to be a success. If you’ve read From Ashe, what other short stories would you like to see? Not going to lie, I would like to attempt The Souls of the Arcane one day!
Until Next Time
That’s about it. Right now, I’m just waiting on the artwork from Alex, the final editing pass, and the bonus chapter and I can get this book out there. I don’t have a concrete release date but as it gets closed, you can expect to see pre-orders for autographed copies, the stacking discount, and all of that return.
Until then, look forward to art reveals and (hopefully) the announcement about what has been brewing at the end of the month!
Until next time,
Ja ne!
