Progress Update – February 2023

light novel

Hello and welcome once again to another month which can only mean one thing: PROGRESS!

The last thirty days have been exceptionally busy for me from an author standpoint so let us not waste any time and jump right in it!

From Ashe Vol. 7

All editing and grammar passes are complete which means the book is ready to publish as soon as the artwork is done. Alex has been working hard on the art and (as of the time of this writing), he just needs to color 1 scene and do the cover and we’ll be done and ready to go! That means you should see a release date in the coming weeks along with the opening of pre-orders for autographed copies!

Normally, I would show off the artwork on social media and/or this blog; however, I made the decision to restrict that to my Discord server. I want to give the community a perk for joining and felt that giving them exclusive viewing of any new artwork was a nice perk to do that.

While not From Ashe-related, I will say that the Discord server has hit 25 members and is doing well! It’s not all about my books as we just have a great time shooting the breeze about anime, manga, light novels, and geek culture in general. If you haven’t joined yet, mayhaps it’s time?

My Girlfriend Was Delivered by 2-Day Shipping

Speaking of editing… all of the editing is DONE! That means once I commission Alex for the artwork, another book will be ready for release! This series won’t have a bonus chapter but it’ll be more like what I offered in A.R. Dragonfly… a biography section, some fun facts about the series, and a small self-Q&A with me.

I added some content that wasn’t normally in the web novel version so those who read the book on Honeyfeed will get a little something extra if they pick it up and re-read it. Also, the beginning starts off a bit differently as well!

Talk to My Characters

In addition to editing two books and working with Alex on art, I have also been working with Orion Writing Studio. You may have heard me mention them before as I was on one of their original podcast episodes as well as an entrant in their first-ever Orion Star Writing Tournament.

Well, they’ve been working on a predictive-text AI that can integrate with Discord. I took part in that and created A.I. scripts for Amber Ryann, Ashe Sawyer, Sebastian Carmichael, Renji Keita, and Mikomi Saigo!

It’s a gacha-based game. If you pull my character, you can set that character as your persona and then have a conversation with them. Based on the predictive text logic, they will sound as close to the character as possible as depicted in my novels!

If you’re a part of the Orion Discord, pop in and check it out!

Until Next Time

While the update was short on words, it definitely wasn’t short on work. From Ashe Vol. 7 is coming soon so look forward to that release date and pre-order announcement!

I’ll close this out with my roadmap as to what still needs to get done so you can see where we are at. Due to circumstances that could be beyond my control, I’m not going to put dates on them this time.

WHAT’S LEFT

  • 2 Pieces of Artwork for From Ashe Vol. 7
  • Art Commissions + Bonus Content for MyGF
  • Editing Final Hope into a Web Novel
  • New Cover and Logo for Final Hope
  • Write From Ashe Vol. 8

I’ll see you all in March to let you know how much of that got done!

Until then,

Ja ne!

Why do you do this all by yourself? I let my publisher, editor, PR people etc. do it, so that I have time to think and write.

I do it by myself because I do not have a publisher, an editor, and PR people. I have plenty of time to think and write despite working two jobs. From Ashe Vol. 7 is going to be my 25th self-published book since November 2017.

If you have discipline and excellent time management skills, you don’t need to find the time to think and write because that time is already blocked off and decided upon. My methods work just fine for me.

        Wow! I am impressed 👍
I live at the sea and need some time for sailing. I delegate most of a writer’s work so I have lots of time too. My other job, I was professor for linguistics but now I am retired.
        Good luck for your writing
        Klausbernd 🙂
